Sculptural & functional teaware and accoutrements

Mikioi Ceramics by Jennifer Hill a local ceramic artist will be showing her pieces at a.ell atelier this Sat. the 27th.

She will be accompanied by chef Nausheen serving a $5 bowl of aloo choley!

Nausheen takes her passion for the art of Indian Cooking and brings it to Kauai.  From the kitchen of her mother and grandmother in India she has learned the elusive techniques of Indian cooking and now brings her own flare to all her dishes.  Preparing an array of dishes she presents diners with some traditional favorites and unique pleasing surprises.  Using only the freshest of ingredients her food touches the soul and brings the charisma of India to each bite.Food is an integral part of India’s culture, with its cuisines differing according to region.  Indian cuisine is characterized by its uniquely crafted recipes using sophisticated combinations of aromatic spices and herbs fused with fresh ingredients to create a bold, zesty taste like no other.

This Saturday’s dish is called aloo choley(potatoe and garbanzo beans)   made with organic garbanzo beans, and red potatoes. It is a very common dish in north India especially Mumbai.  It is street food or fast food except it’s very healthy. Their will also be a tamarind chutney and a spicy chutney.

New products added on the site!

Make sure and check out our newest items added to website this week.  One of which is a fabulous new bamboo dress.  It’s quite a flattering piece on many different shapes.  We make it out of our super scrumptious bamboo/organic cotton blend.  On top of all that it is also versatile in that you can either wear it with the V-Neck in front or back and switch out to the elegant cowl neck which lays beautifully either direction.

We also added some tee’s and tanks for the ladies and long sleeve tees for the gents that are printed with art by our local favorite John Howard.

I would love the hear what you think!

A hui of artists this Sat. at ‘a.ell atelier’

This Saturday’s art walk will be a hui of artists consisting of

Maxine Graham with her wild hat art, surf board art, photography, canvas paintings , who knows what else she’ll surprise us with.

Caitlin Ross Odom will be showcasing her gorgeous jewelry made in silver or gold with sunrise shells, beach glass, pearls, and more

Denise Tjarks will be bringing in the latest retro-groovy handbags she’s created out of vintage hawaiiana fabrics as well as a few belts (I’m hoping)

Pancho Graham will be serenading the town – well those who walk by a.ell atelier anyway

We’ll have goodies and drinks and last but not least FIRE DANCERING by the Sweet Spin!

So make it a point this weekend, get out and show you that value your local artisans – see you there……….

What’s new at the ‘atelier’

caitlin spencerangelegacy

Did you know that 85% of everything in our store is made here on Kauai – really made!  The other 15% are items that I think deserve attention, company’s that are using sustainable practices or maybe great artist friends from times gone by.  It really has become my newest passion to support the companies I feel greatful too.  I encourage everyone to think about what they are supporting when looking for gifts and clothing.  Its a small way to make a really big difference.

We are now carrying Caitlin Ross Odom’s exquisite handmade jewels.  She uses beach glass and sunrise shells and creates the most beautiful earrings, bracelets, and rings.  View Caitlin’s pieces in the atelier or at www.caitlinrossodom.com if you can’t make it to Kapaa.

Limor Farber hand paints and hand dyes on cotton tees, dresses, hats, and onesies for kids.  Drive by you’ll see them hanging in our window!

Just in seasoned salts, flavored sugars,  luxurious bath salts, and fabulous roll on perfume oils all at great prices making great gifts.

We are still representing are good friend Angelina Rasmussen, though she has moved away from us, her beauties are still heavily desired.  Check out her website at  www.angelegacydesigns.com then come in and try a pair of earrings on for yourself.

Art & Surf artist Spencer Reynolds has decorated our walls with a few of his originals, and a huge selection of matted prints in various sizes.  www.artandsurf.com
